The department offers courses in dental anatomy, dental materials, conservative dentistry, crown & bridge, occlusion, and endodontics. These courses are taught during the 5 years of study. In addition, the department offers clinical training for students in the 4th and 5th years, in order to achieve a high level of patient management and treatment. The department focuses on the following subjects in the courses offered and in the scientific research of the staff: control of dental caries, risk assessment of dental caries and other conditions affecting the teeth, treatment planning, dental materials, and fixed prosthodontics. In addition to the courses offered in the DDS degree, the department offers a joint master program with the department of removable prosthodontics named "Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics". This program is recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons - Ireland.

The department offers courses for DDS and master levels. These courses are continuously developed to meet the changing health needs of the population while respecting the highest standards of care in dentistry. The department seeks to achieve excellence in removable prosthodontics through high quality programs and courses, scientific and clinical research, continuous education, and high quality treatment for patients. Department staff are active in the local community by particpating in continuous education programs held by different bodies in the kingdom such as the Jordan Medical Council and Jordan Dental Association.

The department offers courses in pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and preventive dentistry on the DDS level. In addition, it offers a master program in pediatric dentistry since the academic year 2007/2008, that is recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons - Ireland.

The department covers the specialities related to the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting oral soft tisses and bone. Patients are treated in the department of dentistry in the Jordan University Hospital in students clinics, speciality clinics, as well as day case unit. Major surgeries are performed by the department staff in the operation room in the hospital. The department has 14 full-time staff members, one-third of them are ladies. They all participate in the teaching process on DDS and postgraduate levels. They also have their practices in the speciality clinics in the hospital. The department offers a high speciality program in oral and maxillofacial surgery over 4 years. In addition, the department offers training in the different specialties for dentists in order to obtain Jordanian Board Certificate and Arab Board Certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The training is recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons - Ireland for the purposes of MFDS exam and Felloship in oral surgery and oral medicine (FFD OSOM).
