University of Jordan Launches International Research Group on Meta-Science in Dentistry

The University of Jordan (UJ) has launched an international research group dedicated to Meta-Science in Dentistry, highlighting its growing role in advancing research quality, innovation, and evidence-based healthcare. This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and enhancing the global impact and transparency of medical and health sciences research.

Meta-Science focuses on examining how research is designed, conducted, and applied in real-world settings. The group aims to evaluate the quality and reproducibility of dental studies, perform advanced systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and translate scientific findings into clinical practice.

The team also emphasizes research integrity, open science, and the careful use of artificial intelligence to improve the analysis and interpretation of scientific data.

The group brings together distinguished experts from various fields. From UJ’s School of Dentistry, the team includes Dr. Khadijeh Al-Zubi, Dr. Ahmad Hamdan, Dr. Omar Al-Karadsheh, Dr. Najla Kasabreh, Dr. Dina Taimeh, and Dr. Murad Shaqman. Dr. Heba Saadeh from the King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, along with Dr. Hadeel Saleh and Dr. Noor Haddad, Consultants at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Jordan, also join the group. Their combined expertise reflects both depth and an international outlook.

The initiative collaborates with global leaders in dentistry, including Dr. Effie Ioannidou, President of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) and Editor of the Journal of Periodontology, and Dr. Dimitris N. Tatakis from The Ohio State University, a leading authority in periodontology and implant dentistry.

Group members have contributed to top-tier publications such as Oral Diseases, Clinical Oral Investigations, PLoS ONE, and the Journal of Oral & Facial Pain and Headache, exploring research quality, reproducibility, and the broader impact of dental science.

By combining local expertise with global collaboration, the Meta-Science in Dentistry group aims to become a reference point for enhancing the credibility of scientific evidence and its influence on public health and patient care.
