The University of Jordan (UJ) launched a pioneering research group titled “Quality of Life in Patients with Removable Prostheses”, underscoring its commitment to advancing healthcare and enhancing patients’ daily lives.
This group investigates the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of tooth loss among individuals using removable dental prostheses.
The initiative aims to develop precise, internationally validated tools for assessing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in this patient population. Employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, the team seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of patient experiences, including emotional and social challenges, caregiver perspectives, and the daily realities following tooth loss.
The multidisciplinary team comprises experts from UJ and partner institutions, both local and international, including Prof. Nadia Ereifej, Dr. Samiha Sartawi, Dr. Motasum Abu Awwad, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Bustani, Dr. Dima Abu Baker, and Dr. Salah Al-Omoush from UJ’s School of Dentistry; Dr. Oraib Yousif Omari from the Ministry of Health; Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudah from the Department of Psychology at UJ; Prof. Mohammad Zafar from Ajman University (UAE); and Dana Atieh, a master’s student at the University’s School of Dentistry.
By integrating diverse perspectives, the group aspires to foster future research and design holistic interventions that promote both physical and emotional well-being. Ultimately, the initiative aims to contribute to enhanced healthcare services and improved quality of life for patients with removable prostheses.
