University of Jordan President Inaugurates Advanced Laboratories at the School of Dentistry

The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Nathir Obeidat inaugurated the Advanced Dental Simulation Lab, the Graduate Studies Hall, and several development projects at the School of Dentistry at the University of Jordan.

The newly launched projects include a state-of-the-art Advanced Dental Simulation Lab, equipped with the Simodont Dental Simulation Unit in partnership with Abdulhadi Asnan and Nissin Dental Products.

The lab has also been outfitted with advanced technologies such as a face scanner, dental designer software, and Maxiprint 3D printers, through a generous donation from Mr. Nizar Al-Daqam, CEO of Ijabi Dental Supplies, agents of Shining 3D, as well as exocad GmbH.

This laboratory enables postgraduate students at the Faculty to apply and master the latest technologies through Haptic Reality, as well as Photogrammetry and Jaw Tracking technologies.

The University President also inaugurated the Endodontics Laboratory, where he reviewed the latest teaching methods used in instructing undergraduate dental students. He further toured the rehabilitation projects covering all lecture halls, laboratories, and facilities of the Faculty, in addition to the construction of teaching and research laboratories built to international standards.

In addition, the President inaugurated the Graduate Studies Hall at the School of Dentistry, one of the smart classrooms designed to facilitate interactive learning between postgraduate students, faculty members, honorary professors, and external lecturers through visual communication technologies.

The President met with members of the School of Dentistry Council and the Advisory Council, which includes the President of the Jordanian Dentists Association, Professor Dr. Aya Al-Asmar; the Director of Dentistry at the Royal Medical Services, Brigadier General Dr. Mohammad Al-Khawaldeh; the Director of Dentistry at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zakaria Al-Bdour; as well as Dr. Lara Buqaeen and Dr. Sami Al-Qadi representing the private sector.

The University President and members of the Advisory Council praised the distinguished level achieved by the Faculty of Dentistry and commended the efforts of all its staff.

For his part, Professor Dr. Zaid Al-Bitar, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, expressed his gratitude to the President for his continuous support and delivered a briefing on the newly introduced graduate programs at the Faculty, in the presence of the Vice Presidents and Advisory Council members.

Recently, a research-based Master’s program in Oral Sciences – Oral Biology Track, the first of its kind in the region, was launched, and the first cohort has already been admitted during the second semester of this academic year. Additionally, a Diploma in Digital Dentistry has been introduced and will commence soon.
