Program Specifications

Master of Science in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics / Program Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the Master degree in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics program, the student should be able to:

1.     Construct a comprehensive treatment plan for patients requiring complex oral rehabilitation, based on thoroughly detailed history, examination and special investigation of the case while adhering to dental material sciences.
2.     Practice the laboratory skills necessary for a prosthodontist including mastering the use of semi-adjustable articulators, diagnostic wax ups, fabrication of prosthesis and radiographic guides.
3.     Diagnose accurately disorders of the muscular and temporomandibular systems, and perform conservative therapeutic management.
4.     Propose solutions, confer professional consultation and manage cases that require complex oral rehabilitation and integrated multidisciplinary treatment whilst working hand in hand with other specialties of dentistry.
5.     Employ advanced knowledge of dento-facial aesthetics and smile analysis when treating patients necessitating anterior zone rehabilitation.
6.     Plan and execute dental implants therapy, based on proper treatment planning, radiological and surgical guide design.
7.     Fabricate professionally maxillofacial prostheses relying on basic criteria and steps of clinical management.
8.     Present clinical case scenarios involving complete history and documentation, followed by evidence based discussion of the suggested treatment plan.
9.     Lead and analyze literature reviews related to various topics of the discipline and give critical appraisal of articles at different levels of evidence.
10.   Employ general guidelines of ethical and professional conduct, when treating patients in the dental clinic.
11.   Participate in scientific research projects related to disciplines of fixed & removable prosthodontics, analyze data, results, and present the work through publishable article or participation in scientific meetings.
12.   Participate in the teaching process by supervising and guiding students in preclinical and clinical sessions.
